Kedrin “Kitty” Johnson founded WAYS Home Care & Health Agency and then WAYS CDC, so the community that supported her business would share in what it built.

Donate nowAbout WAYS CDC
We invest in the people who make Inglewood work.
WAYS Community Development Corporation was established in 2020 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We focus where the need is most direct: food on the table, a path to steady work, and a community of business owners strong enough to hire from within.
The causes we serve
Employment
Through the Gloria Marigny Scholarship, we cover full CNA tuition so students can enter healthcare careers without debt. Every entrepreneur we help scale is another employer in the neighborhood.
Food disparity
The WAYS Food Bank serves families on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Friday of each month at 8615 Crenshaw Blvd.
Community development
The annual Business GrindOut Session brings government contracting, tech, finance and nonprofit expertise to local founders in a single day, free of charge.
Mental health & wellness
Safe at WAYS is our mental health awareness event, creating space for honest conversation and connection to support.
Our founder
Kedrin “Kitty” Johnson
Kedrin Johnson is the founder and CEO of WAYS Home Care & Health Agency, a home care provider that has served individuals and families across California and Nevada for more than a decade. In 2020 she founded WAYS Community Development Corporation to put the agency’s success to work for the community around its Inglewood headquarters.
Under her leadership, WAYS CDC launched the Business GrindOut Session, the WAYS Food Bank, Safe at WAYS and the Gloria Marigny Scholarship. Each spring she hosts Breakfast at Kitty’s, the GrindOut’s signature morning celebration of growth and achievement.

WAYS Food Bank
Food disparity in South Los Angeles is not a statistic to us. It is the family down the street. The WAYS Food Bank provides groceries free of charge to anyone who needs them.
Next distribution days
Your donation keeps the shelves full between Fridays.
Donate to the food bankGloria Marigny Scholarship
WAYS CDC provides full-tuition scholarships for students at the Gloria Marigny C.N.A. School. Certified Nursing Assistants are in demand across Los Angeles, and a scholarship removes the biggest barrier between a motivated student and a stable healthcare career.
Graduates celebrate at WAYS Headquarters each year, and many go on to serve the same community that invested in them.
What a scholarship covers
Full CNA program tuition at Gloria Marigny C.N.A. School.
Why it matters
A CNA certificate is one of the fastest routes from unemployment to a healthcare paycheck, and it opens the door to further nursing education.
Safe at WAYS
A mental health awareness event
Safe at WAYS
Mental health is community health. Safe at WAYS opens the conversation with practitioners, resources and neighbors in one room, so that asking for help becomes ordinary.

What the GrindOut is
The WAYS CDC Business GrindOut Session (BGOS) is a twelve-hour, free-to-attend business summit held each spring at WAYS Headquarters in Inglewood. Since its first year it has brought founders, elected officials, investors, artists and industry leaders under one roof to share what most small businesses never get access to: the playbook.
Over six seasons the GrindOut has helped hundreds of entrepreneurs in our community launch, formalize and grow. When those businesses grow, they hire, and that is how a one-day event turns into year-round employment.
How we fundraise
We keep the GrindOut free for the entrepreneurs who need it most. The day is funded three ways:
What we raise supports WAYS CDC programs all year: the food bank, CNA scholarships and Safe at WAYS.
